Loading Preparation

Before we think about loading our horses or ponies, we need to make sure they can do certain tasks without becoming unconfident or stressed. The four areas we need to check are in the following videos.

First, we need to know our horses or ponies won't try and knock into us when we are trying to load them. This is shown in Stand Your Ground. Next, we need our horses or ponies to lead from in front of them. Many horses struggle with this. This is shown in Leading from the Front

The last two areas are testing claustophobia. Can our horses or ponies stand quietly between a narrow space and also stand on a tarpaulin or a pedestal. The videos Tight Space and Over It address this in more detail.
