How things turn out...

I am always saying that I have great regular clients, and I really do. I also get called out to help people with one-off or short-term issues, such as loading, handling issues or behavioural situations, such as unwillingness to be saddled and so on. I also do my best to leave the horse understanding a bit more about what they are being asked and making sure that I have advocated for the horse. People often use such emotive words to describe their horses' behaviour, which is fascinating because they are just doing their best with the information they have. So when I leave, I never really know how things are going to turn out. I don't know if the probem is fixed or whether the horse is going to regress. I can take a guess but it's always an unknown to me because the horse is in charge of the timeline.

I do always love it when I bump into people I have worked with months or years down the line and they tell me that their horse is transformed or behaving perfectly. I know I'm not the only equine professional with this plea - try to let us know how things are if you can. It puts an extra spring in the step as we go about our work to know we are making a difference.
